Product Summary and Analysis Draft 3 (Redo)

According to Wee (2019), the latest Garmin Fenix 6 will be the first fitness-oriented GPS watch to implement the solar charging facility. Because the technology is changing our lives, everybody needed something affordable and have the ability to keep track of wour location and analyse body data with a long-lasting battery life. The wristwatch is part of Garmin's new Fenix series that includes advanced multisport GPS smartwatches with Power Manager for lasting battery life, the Body Battery to record and analyse body data and the familiar PacePro technology for exercising pace advice.

The wristwatch is constructed with Power Glass, a clear solar charging lens that prolongs its battery life up to 3 weeks in smartwatch mode.  According to Wee (2019), the "Fenix 6X Pro Solar's bezel was manufactured with titanium or diamond-like carbon coated with titanium." The Fenix 6 collection has expanded the display size of its offering to 1.3 and 1.4 inch respectively. Aside from the hardware enhancement, the series also include new software feature, the Dynamic PacePro that is proclaimed to help the user keep pace with its "grade-adjusted guidance" as the user runs a route like from home to the destination.

Another feature allow the users to synchronise and stockpile their beloved music playlist from their premium music service subscriptions on their wristwatch for music on the go without the need of their smartphones. Some of the unique design limited to the Fenix 6 series is that it has this Body Battery Score give an integrated score of your body's energy levels. It fetches your sleep data, heart rate data, training data and stress metrics into one software, which is known as "Body Battery". The battery life is prolonged by changing the chip set from Polar Vantage series, Coros Vertix and the Suunto 9 to the Sony GPS chip set and it drastically enhance the battery life across the Garmin Fenix 6 series.

As stated by the article, "Garmin Fenix 5 Plus vs Garmin Fenix 6 Pro - Product Comparison", he compared the Garmin Fenix 6 to the previous series, Garmin Fenix 5, the Fenix 6 has a longer battery life because of the solar charging lens which allows the watch to charge on the go. The pulse oximeter is now available in all of series 6 as it is only applicable to Garmin Fenix 5X Plus. Another comparable factor is that it has a wrist-based Heart Rate Monitor(HRM) while the user go for a swim, more data fields on the watch face, enhancement on the Optical Heart Rate Monitor, solar charging, body battery, diamond-like carbon coated with titanium and it has over 20 different design to choose from.

As the Garmin Fenix 6 is still a newly launched product, which was released around the month of August 2019, the cons of it are minimum. Even though the Fenix 6 does not have many new designs compared to Fenix 5 Plus, the upgrade from the Fenix 5 plus to Fenix 6 is not much of a difference, therefore the pricing of Garmin Fenix 6 is quite hefty ranging from $599.99 USD to $1,149 USD.

Overall, I would strongly recommend the Garmin Fenix 6 series because the battery life is prolonged as a lot of user wants a product that can last for at least a whole day, it is able to analyse body data and keeping track of your body health. It is also made from a material that is strong enough to resist it from being scratched. The Garmin Fenix 6 is a great fitness watch, as the wealth of sensors and fitness apps it consists of, the insights it holds, plus the capability to evaluate in depth via Garmin Connect. As far as it is concern, the Fenix 6 series is able to connect to both Android and Iphone so there will not be any problem on these aspect at all.

Reflection on Technical Communication 1

At the beginning of this trimester when I discovered there is a module which is very similar to some English module, I was totally freaked out by it because of my poor English language skills. As time pass by, and by the time I received my grade for "Product Summary and Analysis Draft 3", I was quite happy that somehow I manage to pass by a bit since I was always failing my English language module. Through out this module, I have a better understanding of the communication skills of how and what to do.

Through this module I was able to learn how to write a decent formal letters and reports. As I was not taught on how to do a proper citation, I always put all the reference link at the bottom of the report thinking that is the way to do a proper citation. I was having lots of problem in writing my product analysis as we need to put in text citation and the citation 6th edition apa style.  For the presentation, I have learned that you do not need words on the slide to present, picture can be interesting and can capture the audience if used right. Powerful and interesting presentation, from the start must have a good and powerful beginning, and the ending must be impactful because the audience tend to remember the starting and ending the most instead of what is in between.

Coming to the end of this module, I am very thankful for the time and effort our professor have put in to help us out. Hopefully I am able to do well in the future.

Self Introduction

Dear Professor Brad,

I am writing this letter of introduction to formally introduce myself as one of your students in your Technical Communication class. My name is Lam Chi Yang and I am presently en route on a journey to obtain a degree in Telematics (Intelligent Transport System Engineering) in the Singapore Institution of Technology(SIT).

I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic with a Diploma in Automation and Mechatronics System(AMS) with option in Aerospace Systems and a Diploma Plus in Mechatronic Application Skills. I have decided to carry on with my studies after 2 years of National Service in the Naval Diving Unit(NDU). It was at the end of my National Service that I realised I wasn't actually prepared to step into the working world as I do not know what to work for as there isn't any work that is related to my course of study back in Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

I have decided to pursue a course that is much more specific on an area with a little bit of background knowledge from my Diploma like Telematics as it has a way to communicate with vehicle around it to make it autonomous and ensuring the safety of the people around it. As I have been in a traffic accident 2 times, I have the desire to make this world a much safer place so we can reduced the amount of traffic accident on the road hopefully to to as close as 0. On the side note, autonomous vehicle will be much more benefitial for those people without a driving license.

In terms of communication skills, it is actually one of my weakness as I always have a hard time with how I present myself like my body language, hand gestures, eye contact, and tone of voices that convey the message from me to the audience. As a matter of fact, I cannot hold eye contact with the person for longer than 5 seconds as any longer I will feel unease. In terms of strength, I am much more confident in doing hands on as there is no need for eye contact at all, and I have been helping my father to build some furniture and fixing stuff since young.

Before the end of this course, I would really love to improve myself on the way I present and my communication skills. Nevertheless, I hope I can improve my english language and continue to learn new words on the way.

Yours sincerely,
Lam Chi Yang
